🎼Money for Music🎼
Shoal Creek Needs Your Support
At Shoal Creek, every student from TK through 4th grade receives 30 minutes of dedicated general music instruction from a certificated music specialist each week. During that time, students learn to use their voices, develop pitch-matching skills, play a variety of instruments, and build the mental flexibility and focus that music uniquely develops. Singing alone and with others fosters confidence, cooperation, and a sense of community—key ingredients for a strong, connected school environment.
Research continues to show that music education is essential for brain development. A 2023 study from the University of Southern California’s Brain and Creativity Institute found that sustained music instruction strengthens the brain’s auditory pathway, enhancing language development, memory, and emotional regulation. Students who receive music instruction at an early age are more likely to succeed in reading, math, and social-emotional skills—and those who miss this window often struggle to match pitch or engage musically as adults.
